What are the Care Certificate Standards?
The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. The Care Certificate now includes 16 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care'. These were developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health.
What has changed?
The Care Certificate now includes standard 16 – Awareness of Learning Disability and Autism
In addition the following changes have been implemented:
New learning outcomes added throughout standards 1-15
Change in terminologies and titles of standards
Content to reflect the Care Act 2014
What do I need to do?
You need to ensure the induction you provide to new staff is now in line with the revised Care Certificate standards providing training, observation and collating evidence to demonstrate the standards have been met.
